Dynamic Event Color Correction & Vibrancy
Vibrant Event Commercial Video Color Grading Services
This Event Commercial Color Finishing project for Igloo required a robust and technical approach to post-production. Shooting at a bustling location like the Dhaka International Trade Fair presents a unique set of challenges for a colorist, primarily regarding consistency. The footage contained a chaotic mix of lighting sources—daylight spilling in, tungsten stage lights, and neon signage—which can wreak havoc on skin tones and product accuracy.
Balancing Mixed Lighting The first and most critical step in DaVinci Resolve was normalization. I had to manually balance the color temperature for each clip to create a cohesive baseline. Using secondary color correction, I isolated and desaturated the unwanted color casts (often green or magenta spills from the venue lights) from the subjects' faces. This ensured that the crowd looks healthy and happy, rather than washed out by the artificial environment.
Brand Vibrancy & Pop Igloo is a brand defined by fun and color. Once the technical balancing was complete, I moved to the creative grade. I used the Color Warper and HSL qualifiers to target the specific reds and blues of the Igloo branding. I boosted their saturation and luminance to make them cut through the visual noise of the crowd. This technique ensures that despite the busy background, the brand assets remain the focal point of the video.
Managing Contrast & Energy To reflect the high energy of the event, I applied a punchy contrast curve. I deepened the shadows to hide the clutter of the background while keeping the highlights bright and energetic. This high-contrast look adds a "glossy" commercial feel to what is essentially run-and-gun documentary footage, elevating the production value significantly.
